What are your goals this season?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Gotta use the fly rod a little more too, nail some sturgeon up here on the Moose. Catch a few new species like maybe a bow, brown, pink, atlantic, muskie, laker or splake. That'd be fun.

Looking really forward to maybe getting a chance to fish with some Hawk-Talkers too.

In the spring my main goal will be to get a 40lb carp... i'm certainly due catching one after all the 20's and 30's i've had. I came close to it last year with a 36lber. Currently my best is 38lb 12oz from a lake in France.

During the summer i'd like to spend a lot more time bass fishing but still take some time to target muskie and get a few salmon trips in.

John

Couple of questions....

1, Can I be there when you land a 40lb carp, what a sight that would be
2, What kind of tackle does someone need to catch a 40lb carp
3, Are you looking for someone to tag along who has not yet caught but would like to target carp at least once this year?

Well i hope someone is there to witness it   it's been a long time coming although this year i plan on putting a bit more time in and using some of that vacation time i'm supposed to use

The gear i use is all the european style carp gear.. 12ft Rods big shimanno baitrunners, electronic bite alarms etc... oh but i don't mind using canadian grown corn.

Here's what my setup looks like

Sure if you want to get out and catch a few fish you're more than welcome to give it a go... I think nearly everyone i took out last year had a few 20lbers.
