Carp show feed back

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It was good to meet some FH members.....Bobber, Karma, Seabass, Nodie, Ed (from Paddletales).....
Wish I had of met more members.....oh well, maybe another time.

Bobber and Karma...always a pleasure talking to you guys.
Thanks Bobber, I finally got my Fish-Hawk hats.....and saved a few bucks too!
Seabass and Nodie - it was nice talking with you guys.
Thanks for the advice...can't wait to try out the new gear.
Ed, WOW....that was some travelling booth. Good luck with the inventory when you get back to the store.....
Good talking with you (with the little free time you had). Will have to make a trip out to your store.

Cheers

This year's show seemed a little better than the past couple of years. The renovations in the ice rink were a definite plus (improved lighting, wider corner doors.)

Friday evening was relatively quite but I was told that it was zoo on Saturday. I few "regular" exhibitors were noticably absent this year, though a few new ones took their place.

As for the Turkey booths, I can relate to the MCI guy's pain. Our table (OFS) was pretty much between the two Turkeys. Made you think about giving up fishing, and taking up Turkey hunting in order to enjoy some peace and quiet. LOL :-)

What time were you there on Saturday Todd???....I bought quite a few flies from OFS and paid the women with the dark hair standing at the table facing the length of the rink...

Carp show

Post by Tim Carmichael »

My brother and I attend each year on the Friday night (we are constant, but always have at least one or two others tag along). Quiet and still have 3 hours to look around. Brother bought a carrot stix. Niece bought a St. Croix mojo rod. Both bought from Paddletales. I bought 3 lures ( I have spent enough on another couple of toys this year already).
Always check prices around the show before buying!
Overall a good show and you always run into someone to tell/share fishing stories with.

I attend the Carp show every year, and, for my buck, this year's show had the best bang. More emphasis on angling and hunting than boat sales (unlike some of the Ottawa shows).
I was in Musky heaven :D - best lure selection ever seen in these parts (my wallet's much lighter today), and that 33" girth on Dale's record Musky was something to behold. Had a nice chat with Cory at Paddletails, shared bass tips, and, most notably, I met up with the good folks running this website - howdy Bobber, it was a real pleasure meeting you - keep up the great work, and Joco, I might be taking you up on that offer to go kayak fishing - try before I buy.
Well worth the time and money - good job Dave :!: :D

shop around!

I had a great time at the show this year with my kids. Lots to see and do. But as stated earlier, be carefull when attending these shows and do your homework. I was eyeing the Daiwa megaforce baitcaster with the twitchin bar and saw it at two booths. One had it at $129 and the other had it with a Shimano Rod combo for $169. I just checked the Canadian Tire website and they have it at regular price for $79.99!

My brother in law got sucked in to buying the Daiwa Megaforce at Fern Sport. Guy told him he was giving him the deal of the century at $90 even. We came home and found it on Lebaron's site for $68.63 before tax.

NOT COOL!

One of the guys there quoted me $80 for an older Shimano Sedona reel. I just dropped it and ran away. Sorry to hear your brother got ripped off!
