Best Pike lure you go to!!!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I am not "the stubborn husband, I've fished enough places to know that what works on one lake, may not work on the next and if a guide; an expert of sorts on a certain lake, tells me to use a bulldawg, then that's what I'll do.

I'm glad you've shared your knowledge...am glad everyone here did. I'm just saying that a spoon will get you a pike almost every time, this thread wasn't about what lure you would go to for monster pike, just a go-to for pike.

You just have a different definition of "go-to"...I don't think you should treat anyone who uses spoons like they're somewhat inferior anglers.

I'm not trying to attack you Mudpout, nothing like that, I hope you're not taking this personally. I'm just standing up for all guys out there who don't get to be guides, that just want to go out and catch a few fish on weekends, and that enjoy catching anything, even just 31" runts on spoons.

As matter of fact, I'll have a pretty nice fishing machine this spring Mudpout, I'd love for you to join me early in the season on the Ottawa and we could tussle with a few pike. Maybe we could both learn something.

tight lines to all,
Yannick

That's a classy reply, well said.

If I can play referee for a second... Yannick clearly means no disrespect... it's just a difference of opinion, this is bound to happen when there's a forum full of people who are so passionate about the same thing.

I for one, want to hear more about what works from both of you guys, 'cause I'm still using minnows and big O's over here.

Nothing unexpected, but favorites would be:

white spinnerbait tipped with plastic
mepps #5
Bomber Long A (in spring)
Beetlespins
Jointed swimshad
Big ol' spoon - or - Johnson silver minnow in the weeds

ugh .... major softwater withdrawal pangs!

Where to get Northamfishing in Ottawa?

Post by NorthAMfishing »

pikeman wrote:Hey guys, Who carries the Northam lures in Ottawa???
Hi Pikeman, I sent you a PM on where to buy our products. In case anyone else would like to know. They are available at Baitcasters and Bits & Baits. I just shipped out two big orders today for them.

My go to lure for pike in the spring is an in-line spinner, in mid summer/fall big spinnerbaits 1 oz. minimum, and big jerkbaits. 8"-12" musky smash them too!
