I really didn't want to comment on this as I prefer to be laid back and sit in the background but.............Dirk, its that kind of attitude that doesn't help. "Move on, etc. etc." It's kinda like the doctor telling you, "yes, we know its cancer, just ignore it." There are genuine reasons why ppl have stopped posting or its been curtailed.

Ignoring why, won't cure the "cancer". I've seen plenty of people flamed for their own opinions, daring to post a pic of a location, (God forbid), or even *gasp* helping a fellow angler with lures or baits. Isn't that the very reason most of us came here and have grown to love this site?

WIG, Jaz, FF and Wolfe posted some great comments in regard to the whole issue. Its kind of sad when ppl move on but I've seen it happen on many a site, its natural progression, for whatever reason.

Wolfe hit the nail on the head with "mutual respect". I've met a number of great ppl via FH. Some of which I consider friends and many more I haven't yet met but would love to meet and fish with. I've fished with people that are strictly catch and release, I'm not. We respect each others opinion in that regard. We respect the regs, our fisheries and each other. Is it really that difficult to do?

Its truly unfortunate that there are trolls, sh!t disturbers and extremists, whether conservational or the other extreme but its unavoidable. What is ultimately important is that we respect each other, whether or not we happen to agree. Blasting someone about how to hold a fish properly, etc. is overkill. Its not like anyone is doing the "fish slapping dance", (see Monty Python for ref.). Thats MY opinionated 2 cents. Flame away, as WIG said, "I'm a big boy, I can handle it." But ultimately, does it really accomplish anything? Is anything solved?

Bring on the reports, the pics, the fish and yes dagnabitt, the freaking smiles . Life is short, lets not complicate it anymore than it already is.

Well Kpin I respect your opinion but for how long have these threads been going on here .? Months it seems like, and yes there are crap disturber,trolls etc. everywhere and this particular situation or a part of it has been dealt with over and over and over again and continues on and on . Call it a cancer, but as in most cancers you cut it out and not let it fester . The problem is its still festering here when it consumes this boards threads continuosly . Are you getting anywhere by it constantly being brought up ? I personally don't think so nor does my experience from other boards tell me that it works .

I too enjoy this board and enjoyed Markus's posts and the others posts who now say they are going to cut back but its becoming blah,blah,blah to keep posting about it . As intelligent people I think we all understand the situation by now and don't require anymore input about it from anyone or atleast I can't see the reason why we need constant reminders of it or maybe you do and I will stand corrected .

Most who know me know how I feel about any holier than thou talk about OSS fish pics etc. I also talked to Markus when he pulled up stakes but the time has come to let it go and move on as were at a standstill it seems because of it constantly being brought up again . Now I'm even involved in this stink and I don't like it but since all have had their chance many times to make their points I guess I feel its my time to fire up and say how tiring its getting to be .

Just watch the responses I get for that statement . LOL .

I think I'll start eating every legal to keep musky this year and my limits of bass just to irritate those who are above it all and post the pics as the fillets are cut off . I'm sure you will tire of the constant outlash it creates just as I tire of these threads whose subject matter has been hashed through over and over again . We'll just be one great big happy family won't we ?. Of course we will . LOL

I've already been told to p!ss up a rope in this thread and to the fella who said that you just hang onto that thought because my prostrate is in good shape and if you want a p!ssing match I can do that too no matter whose boat you ride in or how many FH events you have attended .

This ol trapper is quite accustomed to pee pee anywhere in the bush and has stepped in plenty of bear sh!t and will continue to keep moving on without worrying about it .

I agree, this thread should be locked. Once again things are getting too personal.
I had my first taste of the FH-Net family at a sportsman show a couple years back. I bought a hat, put it on, and within minutes was in the middle of a large group of fellow Hawk Talkers who made me feel like a long lost family member. Fishing was the main topic, in between the beef sandwiches,hamburgs and fries ! Some of this group who made a newcomer feel so welcome are the very ones now posting less and less.
I think its time we put this one to rest, and get back to fishing related topics. This site can survive without those who have left or participate less, but if we keep to fishing topics, most of em will come back, and we can all continue to learn from each other. Ego's and temper's need to be placed elsewhere before logging on to "our" site !

Man what is going on here?

I take a few months off after fishing season and do not ice fish much and there is all this crap happening.

I have to get back to checking the site every morning because it is becoming like a soap apera here.

I just have to say let people post their report, pics and tips and do not crap on people because they have an opinion that differs from your view of life.

It seems like all the crap here always revolves around people choosing to eat what they catch or not. My opinion is that there are regulations in place for a reason and if you are in the bounds of the law that there is no reason to jump on someone. If you do not like what someone is doing bite your tongue because you are not going to change them. After all we are mostley stuburn old guys (with some exceptions of course) that are set in our ways.

Things will be getter when the ice melts and we get get the shorts back on and get back to casting or trolling not just starring down a a hole.

Trapper, who is whining I think it's great to hear that some members are moving on as does everyone.A couple people thought it was odd a few of Halk-talk regulars were not as active anymore...I don't know why people have to turn a thread into a heated discussion .

Just more DRAMA Tip-up . This whole thing has been ongoing for months now . Time to let the dogs sleep and yes its a whine athon from where I'm sitting . Folks have made up their minds quite some time ago and such is life . The saga like any book should have an ending and that time has come . Pining over folks will not bring them back . They will return if they want on their own and I hope they do but if this continues it just drags more people down .

As you see here with a post just done by Joco that he wants to get back to talking just fishing . THAT WAS EXACTLY MY POINT with my first post in this thread and every post following it . Others are saying it too and its about TIME because this carrying on about old things that have been washed and javexed to death is getting OLD,OLD,OLD . Move on and let the site get back to what its about and I'm not used to coming here and seeing the same old news still going on that happened months ago .
