Yes, let's all use a resource to our maximum capacity, but only give back the minimum that we are required to by law. Poor attitude. Honestly.
So what do you do when your child asks you to coach their sports team as a volunteer? Tell them that you already pay taxes, and that you're not required to do anything more. Why should I do anymore than any other parent? Come on............

And the beat goes on...
First- good post Banjo. Clear (to me, anyways) and concise.
Next- ganman- can we not agree that if tournament organizers post their intentions (well in advance) at the ramp, that they have met their responsibility of giving fair warning to others who wish to use the ramp/body of water on a particular day?
Small tournaments normally tie up ramps between 6:00 and 7:00 am and 4:00 and 4:30 pm only. And, during these time slots I have never seen a non-tournament angler or pleasure boater denied use of the ramp. They would have to wait their turn as would be the case in any ramp situation, of course, (and they better not play around for 20 minutes getting their boat in/out of the water
) but they have every right to join the crowd. I think many people turn away from the ramp in anger when looking to launch at the same time tournament boats are launching and go elsewhere. There is no need for it.
I think your problem might be as much parking-related as anything else when dealing with the Outlet ramp. Are you aware of the ramp beside the little boathouse 100 yards or so south of the entrance to the main ramp- sort of across from Twists? I've used it in the past with no problems, and have parked along the road. Maybe a last resort?
Markus- in the dealings I've been party to with Cottage Associations, it has become clear that at least some of them have the goal of keeping non-members off their water. I'm not talking about tournament anglers only, either. They usually are the easiest to target, though, so receive most of the flak.

One thing that bothers me here on this launch bussness....are we talking about the launch or parking....Because I've seen thes Bass tourny guys launch.....the boat is prepared for the water long before they back up to the launch....there is one person in the boat and one in the truck....the boat slids off the trailer and truck is gone...the next one does the same ...all over in minutes....the boats move to the dock ...go thru a inspection...while the other person parks ..buy the time the inspection is done...the partner is in the boat and they move away,to a staging area ,this whole afare takes about 1/2 hour for all boats!!! now if you come down the road and see fifty trucks and trailers ...automaticly we say the launch is crowed damn these bass tournys but in fact the wait is nomnial...you may have to walk a little to park your truck...but heck we as rec fisherman have all day ..if a 1/2 hour of missed fishing is going to upset your whole day ....leave earlyer ...this will help to avoid waiting!!!!
Life and the fishing season is to short to let all this crap bother us!!! So lets just go out and fish ,and respect each others right to pursue their stlye of fishing......after all we have alot in common...we all love to fish
