Loading my new baitcaster

Thanks to everyone who offered advice for my first baitcaster. Although it's not as stylin' as the Pfluegar I first wanted, I went for a Curado 201BSF (as suggested) and got a Compre rod to go with it. Now my question ... on the weekend when I got the rod, I didn't have the benefit of Fishhawk.net but couldn't wait to spool it up. I put the line through two adjacent holes on the spool, knotted it, and reeled it up. I see now, on the instructions given to another newbie, that the picture shows knotting around the spool, not through it. Should I undo the whole thing and start again or is my way OK? Because of the rain, I haven't fished with it yet, and have only made a few casts in the livingroom for the cat to chase (with a practice weight, not a real lure :D ). Thanks.

On the Curado BSF models, threading the line through the spool will adversley affect the performance of the reel. I reccommend you strip the line off and put it on as per the manual

Manual? ... I thought the documentation in the box was kind of spotty. All there was was a warranty card and a one page fold-out pamphlet that talked up the different features of the reel, but nothing else. I just called up the store and they confirmed that I didn't get the whole package. Thanks!

If you are going to spool up ith a super line (braid) you will need to use mono as a backing.
