My family and I will be taking a week long fishing trip at Lake Parent, Quebec, in early June. Anyone ever fish there? It is our first time. Apparently pike and pickerel are the main species. What lures do you suggest, and should we fish close to shore? By the way, the lake is located about six miles outside of the town of Sennetterre, QC.

I can tell you is that it is named after my family...we once owned all the lumber rights in that area. Sold it to the government to guarantee war contracts making ammo boxes....the Parent Sash and Door Co. had all the lumber rights to Mont Tremblent region as well...sold them to the gov. for the same reason.

Wouldn't ya like to own a little slice of that heaven now Muddy Tires?

As for Lac Parent, never fished there. Did fish Lac Berthelot a hundred K down one of the logging roads.

Orange jig-heads tipped with worms worked to get the eater walleyes. Pike were hitting gold and silver coloured cranks as I recall.

One thing I have found about the walleye up north QC, they like live bait, and don't fall easily to lures. And, worms are expensive up there. If you can find a giant bucket of worms, I would bring it a long.

Good luck. Let us know how the trip goes.

MT.....I would love to own a slice of that region. Especially one with a connection to some of my relatives.
Even better....my great aunt sold the family cottage on Meech Lake to the NCC. Can you imagine what that would be like today.
