A day of salmon fishing with Niagara Nick
Posted: Sun May 29, 2005 4:08 pm
First off, i'd like to thank Niagara Nick for an amazing day out on the water.....Nick, what a great day we all had, Thank you so much for bringing TroutSlayer, my father and myself out for the morning..... my dad caught his first ever salmon and we all will cherish this day with memories that will last a long time. Thanks
My dad and i picked up TroutSlayer and headed off to meet Nick in the Niagara region. After quick intros at Timmies, we launched the boat and were on the water about 6:30 a.m.
The first fish was on at approx. 7:30, and troutslayer grabbed the rigger and immediately passed the rod to my dad, Bill. ( Thanks TroutSlayer, you're a true sport fisherman
)
My father has never fished the great lakes and probably hasn't fished seriously in about 35 years. (The biggest fish he's caught has been on the average of 5 1/2 # smallies in the mid sixties when we lived in New England)So for him to lock into a nice strong chinook was exilerating to say the least

Well, i'll tell you, to see my dad haul this beauty in was a definate highlight of what was to come
Next it was my turn, so i broiught in this little coho.....man, these little guys can sure fight, and this one gave me a few aerials

Next up was TroutSlayer....now being the modest person that he is, he prefered to release his fish with out a posed pic, but as you can tell by Him and Nick taking the hook out, it was a respectable fish by all means of the term.

Here we come to the host of the day, Niagara Nick.......
Awwww, shucks guys ......thanks he says.....

then he proceeded to bring in this beauty

Now we start round 2 (DING )
My dad once again, proving he's still got the touch after a few decades

WELL. not to be out done by me own fadder. i hooked into a real fighter, this baby took about 10 minutes to bring in.......she jumped clear of the water with somersaults about 80 yards out, must've seen me gritting my teeth, 'cause it wanted to head for the St Lawerence real fast !!!!!!

TroutSlayer And Niagara Nick were real gentlemen today, letting me and my dad hook up with 2 fish each, all totalled, we latched on to 7 and landed 6..not bad odds for an amazing day
