A Very Good Day...(Pics)

Thank God for grandparents.
My mother watched little Shane today so Brian, myself and Tiny Torpedo could get out on Otisco in search of tiger muskies.
We got a late start, thanks to the temptation of a mouth watering breakfast put on by our local firehouse. We didn't get on the lake until 11:00 a.m., and the sun was very bright and strong.

With the sun & heat, I wasn't too sure we would get into anything, but I had dreamt about fishing the night before (I'm superstitious!) and had a good feeling that day. Following a slow 45 minutes, I got a heavy hit on my Bomber Long A. After an adrenaline rush of a fight, I landed this GORGEOUS 27" tiger!

The weed bed was fantastic (good growth already) and we were using the trolling motor to cover the edges and occasionally drift inward a bit. We were casting between 9 and 14' most of the time, and were seeing plenty of small fish and weed growth on the depth finder. We decided to stick to this spot and work it thoroughly, rather than try our other go-to spot. Good choice. A short time later, BAM! Tiny Torpedo does an absolutely amazing job of bringing in the fish of the day: a 29" tiger muskie. We are so proud of him. Not only his 1st tiger, but the biggest one for our family.
We wanted to get this very lively fish back in the water quickly & safely, so I held it for Ty. He is pointing to himself here, to show "IT'S MINE!"

Here is Tyler after we released the fish. He said "Pinch me! Am I dreaming?" Cracked us up!

While removing the hooks from Ty's 'ski, he gave a thrash & gave me pay back. Ouch! You can't tell from the pic, but it bled like a stuck pig, with 2 gashes and 1 puncture. Still all smiles -- the high overrode the pain.

Both fish were thick & clean, and both "flipped me the bird" with a hearty, wet tail swipe. It was a fantastic day. Once again, a great feeling to catch what you target...and the reward of seeing your kid haul in a beautiful fish. Guess what picture is going in to Ty's classroom for show & tell on Tuesday??
