A day on a river

Well, I started out my sunday with the alarm clock buzzing @ 3 a.m..........hit snooze a few times then was out the door by 4.....headed up to one of the rivers about an hour north of Toronto.

My intentions for the day was to explore some old spots that i haven't been to for awhile and see if they stilll held some brown trout and to look for some potential new spots.

my count for the day was 6 on and 2 landed.....the 2 landed were drop back bows( actually they were in greatshape for drop backs, great colours and no black bellys at all) (both C&R)

At one spot, i had a nice brown on , look to me to be about 3-4 #r....played him for a bit, but as soon as he realized how the game went , he high tailed into structure and broke off    he won that one, but i know where he lives now :!: :!:

Another spot i was floating a worm under a bank and an even bigger brown followed it, but hit short ( that was the last i seen of him....again , i know where he lives too :!:)

Here's a few pics...enjoy :!:

The pics following are of one of the bows i C&R......had my camera handy and snapped these pics while i was playing him...this one cleared water 3 times, but i wasn't quick enough to snap the pic........

Mepps2Lou,

Wow, what a treat to view those pics and read your report.

Those trout love those cutaways into the banks, I guess.

We went almost 2 wks. w/o rain here until yesterday, so our creeks have dropped down for sure. Looks good by you!

Thx for sharing.

WOW.....well thank you all so very much. Its amazing how well these digital cameras can make even an amature like me look good...lol...thanks :!: :!:

Troutslayer, i'm honoured to be a memeber of the NTO.....i thoroughly enjoy all sorts of fishing, but i enjoy trouting the most......the pics speak for me it seems.

Wolfe: . the rain here has been fairly scarce as well, this river i was on usually has quite a few deep under cut banks like the ones in these pics, but are just a little too shallow to hold fish. ( though you'd be suprised at times....browns will hug a cool shallow bank during the day and rest them selves for their nightly hunt......from what i know they're mostly nocturnal feeders)

Thanks again fellow anglers for all you compliments and relpies.......looks like its going to be a great trout year for me and the seasons only just begun.....more post and pics to come soon :D :D :!: :!: :!:

I always enjoy your company Mepps, look forward to hunting Browns until the fall Steel run with you!

Hey, I know for a fact you enjoy catching fish other than trout. In this photo you looked pretty serious about getting that big Chinny in the boat! LMAO!
