Finally it arrived ..opening day of Bass season.
Woke the boys at 5 am had the boat and gear already loaded the night before so we were on the road by 5:30 and launching at Sparrow lake before 6:30 am.
Have only fished Sparrow twice before for Pike , so we headed to a spot not far from the launch were we had caught a OOS LM couple of weeks prior.
The lake was nice a quiet ( never got too busy :D ) this fella didn't mind sharing his spot

Muskie Mike on his first few casts hooks up a nice 16" LM

MM has a tradition of catching the first fish of the day

Not soon after MM lands several fish ( 4 more to be exact)

I had no luck with bass on saturday only managed a couple of small pike

Pikeie also connected with a Dogfish but lost it at the boat .

By11:30 it was getting too hot ! so we packed it in and headed back to the cottage .

As a footnote of sorts to saturday we stopped at the Narrows ( north end Simcoe at Orillia) on our way home and dropped the boat in for an hour or so of fishing .True to form MM lands a nice little 13 SM and a good sized 10"Rock bass .A nice ending to a good opening weekend ... for some of us anyways

All bass were caught on Green Pumkinseed Senkos on Sledheads , what I think will be a popular choice in our boat this season.

It is a great fishery
In three trips we have caught Pike, bass , walleye and bowfin ( almost)

Will most likly be one of our favorite haunts this summer.

BBR have you fished Gloucester Pool ?( next body of water toward Georgian Bay on the trent)
