Are any of the other cheaper cigar style plastics as good as the senko's
and what are the go-to colours? and what size and type of hooks to use them wacky style. and when u fish wacky style , u cast out let settle to bottom then reel in slowly??????

Yum Dingers are good...Cheaper than Senkos...
With wacky rigging go with a 1/0 worm/tube hook. I recently found out that using too small of a hook will cause deep hook-ups and you will have trouble removing the hook. The bigger hooks seem to not get suck in (as much).
With wacky rigging you have to fish it SLOW. Cast out and leave it...leave it...leave it...leave it....leave it...Than you can give it a small jerk and leave it...leave it...leave it...
The key is slow. You will see you line moving when you have a fish.
Lastly, don't fish with the line to tight...These baits need to slowly fall straight down...If your line is too tight the bait will fall on an angle and not be as effective.
Good luck,
Mike

Theres also the Phoenix "C worm" i think thats it. Pink, white, smoke and blue/smoke/ sparkle work good. Just cast the wacky rig and reel in once and while and twitch, then let it sinkj. Sometimes the wacky has to be fished slower or faster depending.

Senko's work but there are better out there and cheaper. I have caught more on a YUM dinger/Tiki stick then on senko's so?
The 3x are good too

I find senko type baits a good go to lure if nothing else is working. Could be incorrect here, but I have better luck Texas rigging and letting them fall weightless, then a verrrrrrrrrrrry slow retrieve. Benefit is you can retrieve it and they don't get hung up on weeds as in wacky rigging.
Really don't like using them because it is slower than surface fishing with poppers, and that is some slow.
But, what works, works.
Having good luck this year with yellow/black, green/white. Yum.
Must say I much prefer using weighted worms with a slow retrieve, just not as slow as the second coming.

Been using weedless hooks for wacky and seem to work good. if you think you are fishing them slow enough slow down. Senkos seem to work a little better but there are so many types out there just try them all.

I use alot of Yum Dingers and Tiki Stiks which I feel work extremely well. I had an oppurtunity to see the new Gambler Ace along side a real Yamamoto Senko and there was no way to tell which was which. The only problem is I am having a hard time finding the Ace around here so I don't have a real world experience with them yet. I also like the Rite Bite Cinkos which are available at Paddletales. Another one out there is the Quiver Stick from Bass Magnet lures which you can find on there website. There are so many options out there that it all comes down to which one you are confident using.

The most effective way I have found to rig any of these is Wacky rigged but I also use a texas rig without the weight. If you can find the smaller versions(3 or 4 inch) you can use them behind a surfce lure which is a deadly combo.

Ok, heres another Senko question. Do you guys use baitcasting gear or spinning?. I use spinning for the fact that I can skip a senko under places. However I am not impressed with the wind knots that I get from throwing this type of bait so I am considering switching to a baitcast rig. Any thoughts?

Chunko,
I throw them with both spinning and baitcasting. I like using the baitcaster (in general) but that is a personal preference.
Cheers,
Mike

All depends on what I an fishing for. If I am fishing rock flats on the Ottawa river I will throw them on 6 pound test using spinning gear. When I get around some structure I switch up to 10 pound test on spinning gear and when I am fishing for largemouth around heavy cover I swith to 17 pound on my baitcaster. Good luck in finding a system that works for you.
