Ottawa River Sturgeon

Hey,
Does anybody know if there's enough sturgeon in the ottawa river so that I'd could try fish for those species ? I would really like to catch one of those it's really different...my big challenge :lol: any tips with that ???

there's definetly a population in the west end near Fitzroy. Under the power lines crossing to Quebec is an area I've seen them pulled out of before. I've heard rumour, never confirmed it but, I understand they were commercially fished there for a while to.

As a kid, I used to catch them behind the Public Archives on Wellington St. This was mainly at night as we were out for bullheads. Not sure if they're still there but I'd be surprised if they weren't. Some big ones have come out of there over the years!

HI ALL

THERE are still 3 permit commercial fishing for sturgeons,,,,,,,,on the quebec side nere fort coulonge and chapeau,accross renfrer,and all,,,,,

dont no why there are still some comercial fishing,,,,,,, :o :?

and they catch a lot in there season,,,,,,,,

Hey, There are many sturgeon in the ottawa!! Usually you can pull them up with some worms, mabey dead minnows!

I have olny seen them come through the ice at Petrie and up near Weastmeath.

Buddy of mine got three...well two, through the ice last year 8) One wouldn't fit through an 8"hole :shock: One about 20lbs, and one the size of Bacon's
