Hi all.
As most of you know I am a butcher.
As most of you know I have no boat.
So I have come up with an idea that could be a learning experience for all as well as some fun.
Here it is:
What I propose is a trade of talents and skills
I am willing to cut venison for hawktalkers at no charge, repeat no monies would change hands, in exchange for some boating/fishing time.I would really like to do some boat fishing this fall and I am sure a few hawktalking hunters and their respective hunting parties would like to save a few dollars in what can be an expensive season.
Now to assure everyone that this is legit. I will not accept fishing days in advance of the job. In other words-- I no cut deer then I no go fish.Cut first then fillet later.
All I require is the hunter provide wrapping materials (unless arrangements are made ahead of time).
This can be done right in the garage/backyard, hunt camp.
This includes moose as well ( all you Newf's go back to the rock and bring back a caribou).
Give it some thought and let me know.

Great idea Bottom Feeder.... I'll definitely take you up on that offer. Whats your work schedule like..??? Do you have time to fish mid-week...??? I pretty much only fish Muskie now till freeze when I'm not in the treestand.

Better sharpen those knives and I'll sharpen my hooks.

Man I can't wait to get back into hunting..think this year is the year..
Eventually I will be doing my own as I don't have a block or bandsaw at home right now..

Hey bottom feeder. I do hunt and although we do get our share of deer and moose my whole family is pretty much butchers. However if you ever want to come to the pembroke area I would be more than happy to take you out for a day of fishing this fall. Maybe a day of duckhunting/fishing let me know.

Sheesh you too Bacon? Wow how many past/present butchers we have here? Think you have a great idea there BottomFeeder. I'd take you up on it in a sec, had I a boat. Hell, I haven't even had venison or moose in so long I can't rem what it tastes like.

Are you guys all butchers or are you meatcutters?

Markus--I am a meat cutter although I could dress an animal if I had to.I only cut and make sausage w/ the trimmings

Bacon--What do you do now? For years I cut out of a butcher shop(Simpsons), now I usually cut at friends farms or camps, I bring only 2 knives and a hand saw all cuts are bone less. ( I am thinking about renting a portable band saw for the season)Roasts or chops. moose is great because you yield so much more that you can do more with it.
Moondog--I often go to fort erie so you never know, a side trip might be arranged.

October gives awesome odds! At the moment, the bite has turned on big-time!

If you hunt with a party and bag a few I will teach you how its done. With more than 1 everyone gets to learn on a cut or 2.With some repitition it becomes easy, ask Bacon he will tell you.

You can add me to the list of "past life" butcher... I worked in that trade for about 6 years. I only cut my own game for now but once I get myself set up with a little more equipment, I'll do more cutting for others.
