Bass Season isnt over yet

I was lucky enough to make it out on the water twice this weekend.

I had picked up some Kid Lizard plastics that I had been trying to get my hands on all summer and really wanted to give them an honest go.

Saturday was yard work day. Luckily I was able to get enough done that I could make it out for about two hours. Off to Appleton to try my luck there. Boat launch parking lot packed, boats coming and going. Not to mention all the duck hunters banging away and decoys on some of my fav spots.

Reagardless, I managed to loose the biggest pike Ive personally seen on the Mississippi - taking my jig and trailer with him. Funny how quick a pike can chew through powerpro.

I did catch one nice largemouth - This is the thickest bass I have ever caught. Football is the only way to describe it.

Apologies for the uninteresting picture, I was fishing alone.

Sunday my scheduled partner cancelled on account of the rain, but in the end I couldnt resist going by myself again. Headed out to Clayton lake and the bass were really biting. Caught 9 in just under 3 hours. 2 of which were 17 and 17.5 inches long.

Justin - hope you enjoy this picture. The Largemouth were liking your flippin jig today.

Oh and Saskie - if you are reading this. I think I rescued one of your tube jigs from the lake from our last trip. Heh.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Soon enough t it will be time to mothball the gear for another season.

nice basss.

I was in Clayton Lake today, too. And I didn't expect that it was still good
bass fishing season.

Nice fish! You weren't kidding about the shape!

And while the largemouth fishing can get tougher as you approach ice-in, the smallmouth fishing can get spectacular. I'll be heading out for smallies in Nov for sure.

Hey Firefox,

Great work on the bass!! A couple of chunks there for sure...
Good to hear you're liking the flipping jig - now is the best time of year to start throwing them for sure..
Heading away on Tuesday to one of my favourite bass lakes..hopefully I have some football-style bass to report back with on the night!
Good Fishing,
Justin

Hey Firefox,

Now THERE are some rotund, piggy bass. Much more like it, rather than the anorexic ones I got a couple of days ago.

Nice going!

Thanks for all the replies FH crew.

I know that the pictures are lackluster at best, but I still wanted to share them. This year has been a banner year for me with the largemouth bite, and I really do wish to thank all those who share tips here so that bass newbies like yours truly can get onto some nice fish.

Hope to get out again this weekend, hopefully I wont have to go by myself this time though.

Oh and Markus,

When you start your bass season down south, I assume you will after smallies on the big lakes ? When you catch up to some of those big football smallies - we all love to see pics of big fall smallmouth. Got your bulk bag of green tube jigs all ready to go ?

Fox

Edited for brutally bad spelling.

red flecks! My favorite. Trying for some Smallies with Bunk and float in the morning. Still a little early but they should be around. :P

I'll post a report with a few pics tomorrow night.
