Elephant Lake, and Benoir River Musky from a Kayak....

Me and pike_pipes went out onto elephant lake on Sunday afternoon. The wind was blowing hard from the north, and we were in search of the elusive musky. After fishing the wind blown, cabbage filled banks of an island, we decided to take refuge on the other side of the island. Slowly drifting down the shoreline, we were casting our bucktails when suddenly my rod was shaken... I reared back and set the hook into what turned out to be my biggest musky...

...caught on a meps bucktail. measured in at 47inch. anybody have any idea of the weight. didnt scale it...

After pounding the water searching for musky, we decided to take a break and find some pike....

...caught on a 7inch perch Rapala and kept for the table.

Then i managed this 3lb smallie on a mepps aglia5. Unfortunately this fish inhaled the spinner and so he too was harvested.

We managed to find some cabbage that was still green, in about 11ft. of water and landed some lgm...

On monday afternoon we took off to Benoir River on the kayaks in search of pike feeding in the river. Unfortunately most of the weed growth was already dead in the river, so we concentrated most of our fishing around the river mouth. We landed only one pike and a hybrid musky. Sorry, no pics. not taking chances with the digital and the kayaks.

I must add that that muskie almost took his finger when taking the hook out (fish twrilled around his finger), close call eh....
and also that i've never been kawyak fishing before, and when u told me we were going pike hunting in dem i have to admit I was a bit nervous. but as u told me, there very stable> now that the ice is broken.. bring on the kawyaks! I had a great weekend.
