Buck Lake Report, Thanksgiving Weekend

Headed up past Hustville for a little fishing, cottaging and relaxing with 4 other couples.. Had a blast, great weather and some good fishing.
Scenery was amazing. Here is few pic of the rock formations and the tea coloured lake..

Us around the fire pit.

Fishing was decent. Wanted Walleye but only managed one small one all weekend. It was caught by Becky after being very patient....
My buddy Jon, who gets skunked all the time managed two pike. This bigger one took a jig head loaded with a fat worm bottom bouncing. The picture just does not show the size.. Jon's holding techniques are also a little messed up too. But this guy wanted back in the lake ASAP and was jerking him all over. I was lucky to get the pic....

My other buddy Scott got a few fast hits and as he reeled in to check his bait saw this bass miss his jig as he pulled the line out of the water. He quicky casted back in the fish's direction and nailed this little guy....

I was not having much luck. Only caught a sun fish and a really small Large mouth. Decided to head back for some beers and eats...
Next morning headed out with Jon. I got a nice pike on a lost it boatside thanks to a tangle in my line.
A little while later I had a huge hit right as I was about to bring my rapala out of the water. Saw a beauty pike come up from the rocks and inhale it. The fight was not bad, fast but hard and then as she laid beside the boat my buddy tried to net the pike, it was a good size, about 40" and fat. Would have been my best ever pike. He missed the pike and it freaked out, was half way in the net and broke my line. Needless to say, I was pee pee...But, what can you do. Jon felt bad too....
A few more hours and nothing.
Later in the day the wife and I decided to head out in the canoe for a little trip across the lake. I figured this is a good time to troll. I've got this balsa wood perch looking huge lure I always wanted to try. Started across the lake and about half way across my rod slides down the side of the canoe. I tell the wife to hold on since I am snagged. Give the rod a jerk and figure I am trolling a pile of weeds. I tell her and she says, no, you have a fish look. About 100 feet back we can see this pike on the surface. Sweet... Bring it in, no net, luckily my wife was great at getting out my plyers and gloves and took some nice pics.
Got her in the boat and had a decent pike. Finally felt better after losing two pike earlier. This would be the smallest of the pike I lost but got it anyway...

Here is a pic of the amazing cottage we rented. The owner is a great guy too. If anyone wants a nice place to rent on a small lake, PM me and I will let you know the contact info...

The last pic is of my buddy Rob trying some fishing before dark....

All in all it was a great weekend spent with great friends....
