This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Can you imagine catching a bass like that??...."imagine" being the key word for most of us.

I think it's fantastic that the fish was released. But you have to wonder how many people went scrabbling over to the lake to try their hand at landing the same fish and this time making it official.

World Record

I heard that this bass was disqualified from the running because it was live released. This is a old article.

That lake is hard fished already by many serious bass fishermen. Go to the bookstore and buy the book "Sowbelly". It chronicles the various players in the quest for the world record largemouth. I believe it includes this fish too.

The record chasers are on the water pre-sunrise day after day (yes every day) searching for the next record. Hard core dream chasers - you just have to admire their belief that they will be the one who catches the next record fish. Every fisherman can understand that. The next one could always be the one.

HI, jsdx,

where ya been?!

I should have known you would know a good book about this scenario. I recall all those great listings you gave me a while back. I saved them, as the holidays are coming up again all too quickly!

ctually the claim of the size of this bass and the measurements given have been concluded to be fraudulant by many people. InFisherman even did an article on it and their experts said that it probably weighed no more than 17 (or so) pounds.

Interesting point, Mike B. It got me curious. I went over to my pre schooler (he weighs 37 lbs.). Granted he's a lot heavier than the bass, but I couldn't lift him straight out with a straight arm. Now I gotta go find something that's closer to 20 lbs. and test my upper body strength! (I want to be able to lift the bass when I catch the world record...   )

For what it's worth, I still think it's a legit picture.

22 lbs is nothing to a Southern lass.  She can probably carry that "sumbish" with one hand and fight a sturgeon with the other.

fore arm?????

Post by Big Jim »

Hey WB, sharp eye's buddy!!

That wo/man has one incredibly developed left arm and a great tan on it compared to the rest of her body. Maybe she is a closet farmer??

I smell something fishy and it ain't a bass.

BIG JIM~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I am taking an advanced "photo shop" course today and I feel a 76 pound musky coming on by say....mmmmmm.......a week Tuesday.
