There is a new Walleye Series being proposed for 2006. The tournaments will be held in April-May-June starting with a Detroit River tournament (Restricted to the River)..2nd Lake St Clair (open) Tournament followed by a Lake Erie (open) Tournament. So far the dates have yet to be decided the organizers are trying to make it so as not to interfere with other series. Location and Launches also tba. Field Size tba as well
This will be a two person team series and almost all techniques of angling for ol marble-eyes is allowed live bait..trolling..plastics (Sorry NO HANDLINING) polelining is going to be allowed.

This is not a loaded question, but what does everyone think about a series being developed for this area of Canada? The organizers have seen the success's of the walleye series over in the States and would hope the same could be accomplished here. They would appreciate any and all feedback, suggestions, ideas and constructive criticism.

One last note this is a proposed walleye series and will be formatted to walleye fishing and not formatted after any type of bass tournament or derby!

I think it's a great idea, I just hope there is some interest. When I know some real dates and locations, I may be interested in competing. Sure, I can barely catch walleye.. but it's the experience that counts

Verdicts still out. Couple more single malts and I'll decide whether tournaments are cool, or NOT.

I am already making plans to fish these events in 2006. It will be nice to fish big water walleye tourneys in Canadian waters. Please keep us updated with dates and maybe a post under the tournament section of the site.

A quality big water walleye tour has to start somewhere, so if we can get lots of boats from Eastern Ontario to fish in SW Ontario for these tournaments hopefully in the future we will get an Eastern division for Quinte/Lake Ontario, St. Lawarnce and Ottawa River.

Lets get a solid tour going in SW Ontario so we do not have to travel to MWC events... Southern Ontario has some of the best walleye fishing in North America and no solid tour for walleye anglers . The Kawarthas has the WTC events, but they seem to stick to the small inland lakes and fill the void for tournament bass anglers before season opens. I like the idea of big water because it offer lots of fishable water and technique options for competing (similar to PWT or the MWC) , therefore leveling out the tournament field.

Sounds like a great ideal. Have fished 6 PWT's in the past as an am. and it would be great to fish a series in Ontario. I organize a walleye tournament on the St. Lawrence, so if some info. is needed please let me know.

Thanks for the input.....As it looks now this series will be a team event and if its a success and the support is there, then maybe a change to a Pro/Am will be looked at!

Meetings are being scheduled thru the winter with the organizers, city's and marina owners to include sponsors.

Plans being made to attend club/organizations meetings etc to build upon interest!
