Shaker Taker No More!!

I've had shaker after shaker after shaker. Then I had a big fish take me under cover and break off last week. Then some more shakers. I'm in need of a good fish.

Due to some fish dragging my line over rocks, my confidence in my set up was low, so I respooled my reel last night with fresh 8lb trilene. Then I tied up some new bags with brown row. I'm ready.

After getting set up, rod bounces....fish on! Shaker. I'm starting to think I somehow picked up a small bow curse this fall. :? Got the little fella back in the water and got back out there.

I get a light tap...real down to it...another light tap and I set the hook. The water errutes 100 feet down river and I'm engaged with a silver rocket!

This big bow wanted nothing to do with being hooked. Took me all over the place and let me tell ya....when you have 33 inches of chrome tail-walking across the river...you loose your breath. My heart was pounding. If I loose this fish, I'm gonna pass out.

Finally! I land my first good fish of the fall and he's a beauty. 13.2lb male rainbow. A new personal best for me....and just to make it that much sweeter - on the noodle rod.

Took a little to revieve the big fella, but he came around.

Now, if I can just find his girlfriend. :P

Beautiful, hefty fish, Markus. Probably feels a world different on the rod than the "shakers", huh?

Thank goodness. I was starting to worry that the horseshoe was running out of power and you'd be calling for a boost.

Props on the big Bow! If you're looking for his girlfriend you might want to put away the noodle rod and go with something a bit stiffer

Rau, water is still too warm.

Even worse, this warm spell has woken up the army of gobbies.

I sure hope we get some cold weather soon so the browns can drop their eggs without having the gobies feasting on them.

13.2 of magnificence. Shaker-taker no more I believe so.

Great catch Markus, I betcha that one will make the 2005 highlight reel.

Maybe I should get some brown roe for brookie fishing, do you think it's that good???

I think there's a lot of staging fish in the lake still. And I think a lot of the bigger fish are moving back out in the mornings. I'm gonna gisve them a full on planner board assault this weekend with my father-in-law. Attack!!
