If you want to catch a muskie through the ice you could always drop a big net down the hole? JOKING!

I beileve there was a nice muskie caught throught the ice last year on walleye bay. I am not sure how big it was but it was a decent size. Check the photo album and there should be a few pics of the muskie under Ice Fishing Photos.

re- muskies thru the ice - ice fishing is like that - ya ever know what yer gonna get.

There are people on this board that can tell ya that they have hooked into fish too big to pull thru a hole. Not me - but others.

And when it comes to muskies thru the ice - they would be out-of-season and we strongly recommend trying to get them back in the water (if you have to take them out) as fast as you can. Those big galutes are the most delicate of species. It takes years and years to grow another one if you inadvertantly kill one.

Billy - if you're from NFLD like myself, I suggest you get the regulations and read up on them. It ain't like home up here. It's a whole different kind of fishery. And I also suggest that you spend a lot of time on this board so that you can not only learn how to fish, but you can learn how to respect the fishery from a group of anglers that know.

Good luck with it!

I was on baitshop bay near the beaver house a few years back and drilled a hole just off the ice road running down the center. After 10 to 15 minutes the rod tips and I felt the most weight through a hole that I have ever felt. Sure enough snap and of course my son walking back from the baitshop did not believe me.
Still today I maintain that was a muskie. I have caught a lot of pike through the ice and this was a different feel.
