New ice?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New ice?

Post by Jello »

Can anyone give me a guess or rough estimate on how much the ice will improve after a very cold night like tonight? Its suppose to be -11 around my area tonight, and -7 tomorrow. I have a couple hours in the morning to fish and wondered if the 5' of open shoreline will have frozen back over by then.

My guess is that it would have froze over but I wouldnt know how much there would be over night. Best bet is to go and check it, there may be enough to get out but I really am not to sure.

I had a look this morning, only maybe an inch of ice over those open spots. I could hear the ice moving and cracking as well. A lot of the shore ice on the one side was pushed up by the moving ice. I figured 'tis best to wait.
