I can attest to almost flying out my boat - Fish-Hawk One - the 14 ft aluminum that had a 25 on her at the time. It was nearly December and you could feel that the water was about to freeze - it felt thick. Anyway, I was looking down for a moment when I hit Bobber's wake, didn't have hands tight on the wheel, and I nearly swamped - ended up getting totally soaked by the spray that resulted. Scared the heck out of me and was a lesson to always pay attention even if there is only one other boat on the water.
Fishhawk "gotta run like a madman bye thanks see ya good luck"
I recall tip-up falling out of the paddle boat once.
Also my cousin was in the middle of the lake and he is about 11 years old. he fell out of the boat and i was first to see and he was panicing so i had to swim out and grab him befor something serious happend!
I remember a trip where my brother-in-law and I were at base camp and the other two didn't get back till 11 pm. They had been drinking and there was a struggle to operate the motor, one went in near shore in frigid water and refused to get into the boat afterwards. It was a good 10 to 20 minute ride to the cabin on a very cool night. He was blubbering incoherently by the time he got in the door. Had to strip him right down naked because he couldn't move well. Good thing we had a warm fire going in the cabin. Thoughts had gone through my mind that they were dead and we were going to have to do a late night search. They didn't ride together for the rest of the week and the relationship is now frosted civil.

1st off Adam h and I from fishawk were fishing it was really hot and he started splashing me and the water was cold. So I told him you do it one more time Im gona get you badly.. Well wut do you know he does and i grab him take his legs and dip him overboard. His head is underwater and I ve got him by the legs and all im seeing is bubbles coming up then i quickly pull hm up 5 seconds later and say I told you man. We both laughed histaricaly..
Another incident I was fishinf with Ryan another fishwaker and he was in the middle of his cast when I sat down to row and he went awkwardly almost over making the boat tilt and water started gushing in.
Another time Ryan actually went flying in as I wa srowing and smoked a dead head lol..
I almost went flying outta Normware's boat at the first Rockland Rumble, that woke me up pretty quickly.
There was one time while vacationing in Italy that someone went overboard in a paddleboat pretty far from the beach. I stupidly dove off of ours to play the valiant hero and save her as it was pretty obvious she couldn't swim. Worst mistake possible! The cardinal rule they tell you about tossing a drowning victim a rope or floatation device and not get too close to them is a very good one. The strength of the adrenaline and panick is a sure fire way for both of you to drown. She was in such a state of panick that it came very close to happening, she just clamped onto me and we both went down, several times. Had to actually give a slap to snap her out of it.
All ended well and I got her back to the boat but man...did I learn a valuable lesson.
Had a few close calls. One day in a tournament we were heading back to weigh in in my 14 foot aluminum with a 30 horse. My dad driving and me up front. There was a BIG chop on the big O and we hit 1 wave hard and dads hand slipped off the motor slowing us down at the top of the wave. The bow dipped and we went right under the next wave. If I weren't sitting in the front seat the boat would have swamped. Because I was there the boat only filled half way so we were able to make it back safe. wet and cold but safe.
Next one was really scary. opening day of walleye for the Ottawa my buddy and I are fishing the mouth of the Petawawa river. Fairly quick rapids well I wanted to fish a pool so I got up into the rapids and threw the anchor out. Well it didn't catch right away and we started drifting pretty quick. all of a sudden the anchor caught and the boat started tipping.(rope tied to side support) I grabbed my knife and cut the rope just before the water started coming in the boat.
The last on isn't really falling out of the boat but I did go over and it is really funny. I was practicing for a bass tournament and came to a nice looking spot for smallies and hit a double header of 4-pounders. as I was sight fishing for more I noticed another boat fishing down the shoreline and as they came around the corner i stripped to my boxers and jumped overboard telling them it was hot and there were no fish so I am going swimming. it worked pretty well they skipped the bay and never returned in the tournament and my partner and managed a second place finish.
Aside from dumping the canoe while duck hunting late in the fall many years ago ( COLD ), and doing the one foot on the dock -
one on the boat splits - splash near Napanee also a few years ago............I've never been ousted from a water craft . Like, yed have ta be stupid eh
Actually, the first one was really scary; thought I was going to freeze and probably nearly did. Paddling like hell for the truck warmed me up and saved my sorry axx. NEVER go duck hunting in a canoe in Nov. ALONE
No, never, but had a couple of close calls. I did however have to dive in the Larry from a dock to rescue my bro Mike when he was a lad. The water was over his head and it scared the B-Jesus out of me. When I fish him out back on to shore the only thing he could say was "where's my Johnny West"! He was pee pee I left his action figure behind, I'm sure it's still there somewhere, unless a Musky got revenge on the last fisherman that tryed to hook em!
Hit an island on Stoney lake pick fishin at about 10:30 at night...needless to say ended up in the water...better than my friend though, he ended up on island. A few bumps and scratches but we were not going too fast. A few patches to the hull, a new prop and were back on the lake the next week. Good fun.
Last june my buddy and i were fishing in pretty clear water. He was having an awesome day using a jig and pig set up but he had lost a couple of them to muskies so he was down to his last one. we were in what looked to be about 2.5 or 3feet of water fishing around some submerged logs when he snagged his last jig on a stump.
It didn't look too deep so he got on his hands and knees and started to lean out over the side of the boat to get his lure. Sure enough it was deeper than it looked and in slow motion he reached too far. His legs began to lift up and he curled his back to avoid getting his head wet. It didn't help though, he just looked like a gymnist on crack for a second and then he lost his grip on the side of the boat. It was one of the funniest things i've seen while fishing.
When he stood up in the water it was about 4 feet deep. He got his lure back but his cell phone was soaked.
Another time we were in my father in laws boat and he started the motor while it was in gear. My girlfriend wasn't quite seated yet and she was on her way overboard when I reached out and pulled her back into the boat.
Lucannus and I hit a rouge wave a few yrs back which came pretty close to takin a swim But luckily we both stayed in the boat
Also RJ and I on Constance Bay 2 yrs ago we came up awful fast on a rock pile from 6 FOW to 6 Inches of water just as RJ killed the motor, and we pretty much beached ourselves on the sandy rock pile Worst thing was is this was in the middle of the Bay, and had no markers anywhere near it!!!
If we had of kept on under power, well you know the rest
I almost went in the drink this November, i was fishing on the Madawaska out of Burnstown launch, I headed towards a spot that had caught some eyes on the previous Saturday just to check if they were still around. Temp. was about -3 C , ice was forming on shore , it was windy but I went anyways every thing was ok until i took a curve in the river , now I was facing the wind and the waves were a bit higher when all of a sudden a big gust of wind turned my 14footer 180 degrees like it was a piece of paper. Scared the living ____ out of me , I was around burnstown because that is where my hunting camp is. .I was wearing my hunting pants cotton, parka cotton big, hunting boots (anchors) and because of my big parka i hd put my PFD on the back of my seat. Good thing I was straddling the rear seat in my boat or I garantee you i wouldn't be telling the story, My wife would probably have put all my fishing stuff in the classified ads of Fish-hawk and some lucky Hawk-Talkers would've had a good deal. It would've made me smile to see from above that I made a Hawk-Talker's day.
Just to let you know I made a decision right at that moment that my next purchase would be a survival suit.
I bought one a couple of weeks b4 Xmas.
Lucky to still be here. All walleyes shuderred when they heard that I was still around.

When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!
