New 2 this, looking for some help.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New 2 this, looking for some help.

Post by tipper »

Hey guys
I'm planning to fish next mon- thurs and haven't been to the river for about 5 yrs. does anyone have gps co-ordinates for the "bar". I've looked, never found boats, or fish. We had a great day when we travelled past the power plants though. How does the clarity affect the fishing? do you need an american license when you fish, the bar? Where is the best place to get one? (directions?) Where is the easiest place to get minnows, and what time is it open. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Tipper if you mean the niagara bar its at the mouth of the river, where it dumps into Lake O. You can't miss it the water flows out and literally climbs up the bar creating a turbulence on the surface that is unmistakable, look for the green can buoy about a 1/4 mile out. White tubes 3 and 1/2 long are the go to bait for lakers. Water clarity will play a big role, the clearer the better. Minnows can be purchased at Fishing World in Hamilton 905-573-2288. 3 ways with 1 oz pencil weight and fish the rise from 40 to 20'. No need for a US license just stay on the Canadian side.
