I have been playing with this site for a few months and it is so cool.
Did you ever look at Locherber bay in Rockland?
If so go to the far West end of the bay what the heck are those weird circles, looks like something from the X-Files.
I've had it since the summer. I'm thinking the pictures are a year to 18 months old, cause when I zoomed in on my house, I was able to see the blue inflatable pool my buddy had put up on his lawn two doors down to watch the World Cup in the summer of '04.
The image is old for sure but they must have updated it not long ago 'cause the image used to be of my house when it was being constructed... now it shows my entire neighbourhood already built. Must've been taken on a weekday, no cars in the driveway. Oh, and I just located some quarries nearby... gonna have to go scout for live bait... damn this cabin fever!

I'm assuming he means catching live bait in the quaries.. minnows.. frogs.. etc..
not all quarries, that have water in them, have bait... right???? i know a couple quarries near orleans that have water in them.... might go check it out

We're probably thinkin of the same 2... Lafarge owns 'em. I know of a series of quarries owned by another company that have had a huge population of baitfish in them for years. A co-worker of mine used to take his girlfriend skinny dipping there years back and she told him she'd never go back 'cause the water was so thick with them. And I've heard that at least one area bait shop that skips the middle man and traps their own there. They have permission of course, or else it'd be trespassing .
Google Earth is very cool. It's kind of weird though how suburbs\high populated neighborhoods come out pretty clear at close range, while more rural locations do not (in my experience anyway). Tree cover is not a factor. I'm having a real tough time zeroing in on a few lakefront cottages, and my hayfarm ranch home. Anybody else have the same problem?
Trex, urban areas are shown at a much higher resolution than rural. If you zoom out to a shot of a big area like eastern ontario you can see areas that are a different shade. Those areas have a much higher resolution and you can zoom in and see alot more clearly.
Google Earth is pretty cool...as stated not that great on older computers. Although my computer is fairly new I is still prefer to use this site...http://atlas.gc.ca/site/english/maps/topo/map
