This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hi guys,

Just made a couple tip-ups that seem to work well, using a spring-type door stopper, piece of dowel, and a small piece of 1x3. Works dandy for lakers...haven't tried them on anything else yet. If you're interested, I can give you more details.

P.s. My first posting! Fish-hawk rocks!

I just recently picked some of those deals that turn your regular jigging rod into a tip up! I'm impressed they are very well made and you can adjust the sensitvity!!! When a fish hits it sends up a flag but, I've added a little bell so when the flag goes up the bell sounds also :D

Here are the plans for tip-ups. Drive to your local baitshop and pay 5 bucks a piece.

BigJon, I had tipups like you made a few years back and I found them great for Pike and Lakers, But for the light bite of a walleye you will have to stretch out the spring . That's what I did and they didn't look as good after. But they worked better. It might be better to find a different size of springs.

Something that I have of my tip ups now is. On the top of them I have a piece of wire stretched from end to end and I have a rubbercore sinker on the wire that I can adjust to be very sensitive or not . But it's a definite PLUS if you fish for wally's.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

Experience is that marvellous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again
