Walleye World - Fishing Tourney - Package in the Mail

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Walleye World - Fishing Tourney - Package in the Mail

Post by Braeside »

I received a package in the mail the other day from Trenton, advertizing the "Walleye World" in Trenton, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club - May 6&7/06.

Well put together package, even a few raffle tickets to buy. Looks legitimate, but I've never heard of it prior to this. I've asked some other folks who I know subscribe to fishing mags, or here on Fish-Hawk if they got a similar package in the mail. Nope is the answer.

Has anyone else received this. Is it legit??

Thanks,

B.

Braeside.

I used to receive them when I lived in Belleville andbought a derby ticket every year. I have not bought a derby ticket the last couple years, so I haven't received them.

However I do still receive an email. I believe the sender's names in Rob C. I am sure it is legit!

Walley World

Thanks Luke,

The package does have the Kiwanis logo on it, so I was leaning on it being OK. Still, I really don't remember hearing about this tourney...

Hope they do well.

You have never fished the derby before? Well now I would say that is strange, because I assumed they took the registered participants from the previous year and sent them the package. That is why I am assuming I have not received it over the last few years. I will verify with my dad tonight and let you know.. Actually I am going to call him right now and ask him to pick me up a ticket... Maybe it still gets sent to my parents house and they throw it out or something..

I got mine on Mon. as well and have never heard of it. I do receive 1 fishing mag and thought they might have sold their mailing list.
Did I read the entry fee right. Man thats cheap with great prizes.

I recieved mine on Tuesday as well, I fished in it last year so I figure that's how they got my name.

I don't buy the raffle tickets but am fishing it again this year. It's the earliest walleye opens up around here.

Received the package Monday of this week. It is legit.

I usually never buy the raffle tickets cause I buy the tickets from Merlands since we stay there.

It is a fun weekend. They got a couple of tag fish worth big bucks. One is for $20,000 and another is for a 2 year lease on a 2006 Dodge Dakota. I have never heard of the big prizes being taken with tagged fish. Last year a $1000 tag fish was caught.

Walleye World

I was chatting with a fellow who has fished this tourney in the past, and he was very impressed with the organizers and the event.

Like Bottomfeeder, I'm very surprized by the entry fee, especially considering the prizes. They must get a large number of folks who participate in it to hold the fees so low.

Alas, that weekend is a no-go. I'll buy the raffle tickets and hope for the best.

Cheers to all....

Roughly 5-6 years ago, this tournament would sell in excess of 4000 tickets.. From 5 years ago until now, the numbers have been dropping because the walleye fishing (excluding the trophy wallaye fall fishing) was going downhill. However, last walleye season was 100% better than the previous years, so I would assumer by word of mouth, the ticket sales will be increased this year, as opposed to last year.
