Silver Lake has an exception to the rules in the regs. Lake trout are open all year.

Silver lake is a favorite provincial park of mine.
I really like that its only about 1.25 hours from ottawa, and I think it has a great boat launch and docking facility(if you want to call the concrete wall that) for about 6 boats.
Its too bad that you'll be going too early to fish it for bass since the weeds on the shore next to the highway produce some great bass.
If you head left from the launch along the shore to the main point, you'll notice that point extends a good 100-200ft into the water. Try fishing the drop offs on either side, and you should hook into a few pike.
Another idea to try is to head out towards the middle from the park launch and there is a huge hump surrounded by deeper water. Trolling cranks and spoons have produced for me as well.
Its too bad silver lake isn't on the Map Project @Fish-hawk yet, but hopefully someone can post it up there.

One thing that does blow my mind however is how the laker population survives in Silver lake. If I remember correctly, the deepest hole I found was about 115ft. You;d think in the middle of the summer, those lakers must be sweating almost as bad I do

Good luck with the outing, and hopefully someone else can post a map and point to those areas I'm talking about.

Hey,

I fished that lake last year near the beginning of the season. Wasnt the biggest of lakes, the boat launch was nice but shallow. I also didnt have the greatest luck to be honest with you, six guys maybe 5 fish all day.
Camp ground is nice, good luck to you.
