Me and a mate will be heading down to Port Hope for the start of the Steelhead season next weekend. This will be our first venture down there, and as I understand it is likely to be absolutely crazy with vast amounts of other anglers.

What I am after is some information as to the best places to fish down there. If someone could give me a location where we can get away from the crowds it would be appreciated, other than that any other info would be greatly appreciated.

What the best bait to use? Roe Bags?

Thanks

Spots, your on yur own bro, sorry man, but there is alot of walkin to do and if you do you will find areas where there is less people.

Baits:

Dew worms

Pink worms (3"s)

Flies, wolly buggers, stone flies, black is key...

Small tubes, white I prefer

Try roe indeed, but I only use it 1st light and then switch to artaficials

There are a million baits to use, but go with a bunch and fish till you see what they want. I'll be in that area from Fri till Monday so send me a pm and I'll do my best to help ya out

I haven't looked at the reg book yet, just a quick question. Doesn't steelhead open on the 29th or is there an exception at Port Hope? Might just be a missunderstanding but you wrote "next weekend". Not trying to bug anyone. If it does open next weekend I may give it a shot.

its already open anywhere south of the cn tracks, although most of the steelies have probably moved up by now.
