I'll be heading down to Presqu'ile Provincial Park (near Brighton) in the next two weeks and am wondering if its worth taking my canoe/motor with me to do some putterin' around in the back bays of the area lookin for fish.
Anyone had any experience there?
Are you allowed in protected lands by canoe?
Thanks

Never been there myself D-mo. When I read the title, I thought you were refering to Pres'quil Bay on the Ottawa River near Deep River.

Yes, I would take it as there is some deeper water in the marshes that hold a lot of unpressured bass. Have fun!!

You'll find some very decent smallmouth fishing around the small lighthouse in Brighton Bay, just north of the historic (Large) lighthouse in Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Also, the east side of the same bay offers some good largemouth and pike fishing. Now, a short car ride (<10 min) to Wellers Bay is what you really may want to check out. Great canoe waters along the western side of this Bay and lots of big bass and some very decent pike. Here's another little tip . . . there is a very narrow sand point which separates Weller's Bay from Lake Ontario on the eastern side of Brighton Bay. Here you will find miles of almost private sand beach. A nice place for a picnic. Watch for the posted protected areas. Oh yeah, plenty of opportunities to throw rocks at the Cormarants. If you can't find a piece of shoreline and roadside parking that works for you, launch your canoe or boat at Barcovan Marina for $5.
Good Luck

Theres some good bass in there. Have heard there are some pike around 6-8 pounds in there. Don't bother trying to catch walleye it was commrcially fished. IN a tournament a few weeks back only a few walleyes were caught over a few days; one of those walleyes weighed in at 16 pounds though. Also I see a lot of carp.

Ugly

good stuff ..
