Anyone fish it this year yet? Also thinking about taking a day trip do Big Gull while I'm at Crotch for a week.

When will you be there? Clown Worship and I will be there the week of Aug. 5 to the 12th. We have been there already this year on the May long weekend.

How did you make out? I'm not going up until the week of Sept 23, my buddy is going up July 22.

We did the best we ever have in the 4 yrs we have been going. We got lots of pike, some decent walley, (one 4 lbs) and some bass and of course the ever present pan fish. Just speak to Ward pr Jeff at Tumblehome these guys know the lake and maybe consider a guide.

I know the lake very well, also Jeff and Ward I've been going there for 12 years.I can't wait for the time to come.

Toadhunter do you have any advice for us for the time of year when we will be there?

This time of year I spend most of my time pulling worm-harnesses at sun-up and dusk. I switch to wally divers after dark.

Thats pretty much what we do, but do you try for anything other than walleye?

Make that 3 then now. I have been using worm harness and wally divers for 20 some odd years now on big gull.

How is the fishing on Big Gull? We have never tried it.

Less than a month 'till we're up there for a solid week! I can't wait... I just love it up there.

beautilful lake, was there a month back,got zero....but enjoyed the scenery a ton...also talked with the lodge owner and he said the fish were really slow when I was there but would luv a return trip in the fall

Other than the fact that because it is mostly crown land and therefore not completely choked with cottages, I love the fact that most of the traffic on the lake tends to be fellow anglers who for the most part actually show some courtesy. You can usually troll a run without having some moron in a huge Bayliner swamp your bow or frantically wave a PWC off your lines while he blows donuts 30 feet behind the boat. After a couple of really bad experiences on the water so far this year, I'm really looking forward to going where the imbeciles are the exception rather than the rule.

Oh yeah and catching a boatload of fish last time up sorta helps too

Cant wait either, definitely anxious to get back there for an entire week. The hospitality of Ward and Jeff are the main reason we keep going back, and every trip we learn more and catch more. This time up is almost peak season for walleye on the lake. Last year I trolled every evening and never got skunked. Hopefully we can get info on catching other species during the day. I did get a couple nice eyes during the day in a couple of spots the guide showed me and I remember where they are. Cant wait, and good bye to bachelorhood at the same time.

I heard a terrible report about Crotch Lake from a neighbour - not much caught at all. Not sure if he would do well on any lake though. If you're in that neck of the woods, Big Gull is my bet.
