Calabogie lake itself offers a great venue for kids and adults alike when it comes to short fishing.

Just follow Barryvale road to the very end. You'll pass the golf course and come to a T intersection. Keep to the right, and go right to the end.
At the end, there are some old train tracks (this is used as a snowmobile path in the winter). This spot is known as the causeway, and it seperates the main lake from grassy bay. In grassy bay, you'll find plenty of largemouth and smallmouth, as well as plenty of hammerhandle to 5lb sized pike. Fishing the main part of the lake will net you Walleye and smallies. This causeway extends for the better part of 800m and you can fish anywhere along it on both sides. If you make the trek to end, you'll find whats left of an old wood bridge where the boats pass though. Fishing the bay side near the bridge has produced well for me in the past.
Good luck.
