From the Jock?
I live right where the Jock meats the Rideau. I didn't think the Jock river was deep enough to sustain any decent fish. I mean, from what I see, you can walk from one end to the other on foot withought getting your hips wet. Where abouts would you say is a good spot to fish that river?

thanks for the tip

Fish right at the mouth of the Jock. Where it enters the Rideau. It's deadly there!! Bass, Pike, Walleye and maybe even Musky! :o

What to use?

You could also try the jock up into Richmond, especially around the bridges. Not many people fish the jock anymore due to past pollution problems but apparently it is coming back according to a few people I know, so good luck and let us know how it goes.

The Jock is a great fishery. I've seen a few 12+ pike just this year . There's also some HUGE 20lb+ muskie and 4lb+ smallmouth. Two of my three Muskie where from the Jock.

I fished the jock just past barhaven out greenbank a few years back, and although I didn't see any, people were saying that there had been some really decent pike taken there from shore....from where I could see, it did appear fairly deep in arreas....For pike I love throwing, spinners and Williams Wobbler spoons....those spoons have been magic over the years..goodluck

I learn something new about fishing all the time....

Thanks eddie, I've never used a williams wobler for pike in my life. that has been an exclusively trout lure for me. Thanks alot for the tip, I have a mountain of them here in ottawa but I don't do any trout fishing since i've been in ottawa.

I'll have fun,

Try a Rapala Husky Jerk for the pike.
They've been the "HOT" bait on the
St.Lawrence the last couple of years!

Good to know! I think I'll give it a try in the next little while. I've fished there once before and all I kept getting were little half-pound smallies, but I'll try again.
