1000 island camping and shore fishing?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

1000 island camping and shore fishing?

Post by lub0 »

Hello, I am looking for a camping in the 1000 island area suitable for fishing from the shore with kids…
Also another option is to rent a pontoon boat.
Thanks in advance!

You could try Long Sault.

I have been going to the 1000 islands for 5 years now. I'm heading back the last week of Sept.

We rent a houseboat from House Boat Holidays in Gannanoqua (sorry 4 sp). We go for what is called and extended weekend which is Friady - Tuesday.

We travel from PA and the total cost per person is about $350 US. That is for the largest boat. There are six of us. I cannot say enough good things about folks at House Boat Holidays. They treat us very well! They have a large number of boats and smaller sizes for a family.

Having been there I would never!!!! go there unless I had a boat. The senery is breath taking and the waste is so clear it is amazing. Alot of the islands are game lands and offer nice big docks, picnic tables, and a few have pavillions with stone fire places.

Trust me get a houseboat (we take smaller river boats to fish from but you'll have just as good a time without) you won't be sorry even if it strains the buget a little more.

Charleston lake is not to bad either, a little bit of a drive from gananoque, but gorgeous and good shore fishing for the kids too
