What do you call a fisherman without a rod?

Despite having my best smallmouth and muskie year to date, I've had some BAD luck. It started after my wife bought me a nice baitcast rod and great reel for my birthday. I'd never used one. I couldn't wait for season to open to use this thing. I ended up using it for 3 weeks until my buddy put something heavy on the rod and... Well at least I still had my spincast.
Until Sonday. I was fishing out of a sportspal with my buddy, it was a pretty windy day. I put my rod down beside me, like I always do to change lures. I must have knocked it over with my elbow or something, I heard something and looked back to see the shine of my abu garcia reel fade into the stained water. My buddy said I looked like I was going to jump. I almost did.

Long story short, I'm in the market for a spincast rod. I already know what reel I want,(been drooling over it for months) but I don't know about rods now. I like a rod that can cast lighter stuff, but can take bigger fish and lures.

I'm thinking about a medium, but i don't know if it could take large spinnerbaits and big pike. But I also throw a lot of 1/8oz jigs and like a sensitive rod.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

7' medium will work for most of it
for sensitivity , try for an IM7 or IM6 graphite

Its time for you to retire the ways of a spincast fisherman, and its time for you to pick up a baitcaster. Quantum Accurist is a great entry reel....
thinkabout it... ;)

If you are not going to use the Baitcaster faithfully and want a spinner then the IM6 is nice but, If you got the money to spend then grab a Gloomis GL3 or GLX. Grabbed one this summer and it is perfect for your needs. Medium to heavy fast action and a proven caster no matter what yo got on the line.
