Where should I take my 5 year old son to fish?

In Ottawa tomorrow only. Where can I buy bait and then take my 5 year old to throw a line in the water and catch some fish?
No boat.

Get the bait at any Canadian Tire. Or check the sponsors' banners on this board in case you're in the area of one.

Then take him to the Canal. It's a virtual "honey hole" for kids. Never know what they'll get.

The two foot bridges there hold tons of fish for the kids
I've seen carp cruise near the bridge closer and the canal and there's bass near the overhanging tree on the south side....
