This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

9lbs Walleye out of Rice Lake

Post by Steelcat »

I went to have some shore fishing last sunday. As you all recalled, last sunday was one of the windiest day of this year. My father, my bro, and I arrived at our fishing spot in the afternoon. We immediately felt the full force of the wind and wave (1 meter high). We were not having hope of catching anything that day, but since we already arrived, so why not try it out. I was using jig and grub, jigging slowly along the bottom. After 30 mins of jigging, I suddenly felt a large hit. I set the hook and felt a heavy weight, at first I thought there was a bunch of sea weeds on my hook, but then I remember that sea weeds couldn't move so I realized it must be something big. After some fight, we managed to net the fish out of the choppy water. To our surprise, it was a 29inches/9lbs walleye. The belly of this walleye was huge~! It was released back into the water after I took a picture. After the release, I found out that my hook was already out of shape. If I had to fight the walleye any longer, I would have lost it :P
