I will be venturing to charleston lake this July/August for a two week fishing get away with my wife and two daughters. Has anyone fished there before during this time period and if so what is the primary fish? We love to bass fish and would like to know if there are both smallies and largemouth in the lake. I did see on a site there are lake trout also in the lake. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

There are both Largemouth and Smallmouth bass in this lake.

I will be fishing a tournament on this lake around the same time. Check out the Ottawa Valley South Bassmaster website for the results.

There is great fishing there and you and your family should have little trouble finding fish.

Enjoy

do a search for charleston lake in the forums, you'll find lots of info.

As Seaweed mentioned there are LM and SM Bass, there are also pike and Lakers. There are also panfish for the kids.

The lake has lots of places to hide away from the bassboats. Get yourself a good map of the lake, the lake is to big and has too many depth changes to go blind.

VERY GOOD ADVICE. Depth can change very quickly. Deep one moment and up on the hard shoal the next.

It is one of the prettiest lakes I've ever been on. Worth the trip!
