Nice Scenery, but where are the fish?

Congrats to all involved with the KPin Derby. I'm glad to hear that is was a great success. I wasn't able to make it, but perhaps another time.

My latest hard water adventure saw my buddy and I head out to Farren Lake in search of some Splake. We got to the lake and were concerned with the patches of dark ice we saw. After drilling a few test holes, we were condifent that the 16-24 inch ice would support us, so off we went. It was a bit of a hike to our fishing spot, but a little exercise never hurt anyone. We sent up camp and had at the fish.

Well, we tried, but at the end of the day we only had a couple of small perch to show for our effort. One we let go so he could grow bigger and the other was injured so we kept him. But the splake were no where to be seen.

But, we had a great day out on the ice, saw some amazing scenery and thoroughly enjoyed the day. For our next outing we plan on trying Constance Lake for the first time.

There around...Trust me  ... How deep were you fishing? Caught a few big bass out of there too :)

Good luck on Constance

Jig Head - We fished from about 8ft to about 35ft. We don't have a flasher so it was all guesswork.

BrettM - Farren Lake is near Westport, just off Hwy 7 near Perth.

Cheers

With all my years spent in Westport, I've never stopped at Farren but always wondered about it.

It looks really pretty; too bad you didn't have much success with the fish, though.
