Hello,

I just want to say hello to you all. I used to post quite frequently but with my recent travels followed by winter here in Canada I have not had reason to post fishing questions or answers.

I was in India and German and Netherlands for most of the Summer in 2006. I did my best to get anything fishing related squeezed into my trip but didn't have much luck.

Fishing in the Cauvry River was closed when i was in India. They fish for these giant "minow looking" fish called http://www.fishmahseer.com/ Mahseer. I hope I get to work in India again and this time during fishing season.

I also had a few interesting conversations in Germany. I spoke a few guys on the train to Munich who were on their way to Slovania, apparently it's like what the North of Canada is to the USA.

I also met my Urban fishing counterpart at a Shawarma stand in Berlin. With a Beck in my hand and a Shawarma on the way... I met a guy on a bicycle who had two fishing rods sticking out of his backpack. With some previous knowledge from earlier conversations I managed to figure out that Zander is Walleye or something close. But I had a hard time explaining Pike and Gar's. The guy fished right in the middle of the City and caught Zander regularly... or so he said ;-) I took a look at his talkbox and saw a few familiar things... but I was surprised to see so many small lures... Depending on his trust in Canadian Fisherman, he might be catching some nicer fish now since I suggested some larger crankbaits for walleye. My fav is a 4 inch Clown Pattern Huskey Jerk or other similar baits.

And that's about it for my updates... I've since caught a Rock Bass and a perch while ice fishing and now long for some soft water fishing.

Cheers,

UF

urbanfisherman,

Welcome Back! :D

You've had quite the interesting travels.

Those Mahseer fish look like a cross between a tarpon and a carp (hmmm, "Carpon"? )...

As exciting as your journeys and experiences were, it's probably great being home again. Maybe you'll get in some good old Canadian fishing soon. There are plenty of people that travel worldwide to where YOU live to get some great fishing. :D
