Topwater Pike

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Topwater Pike

Post by aciddrop »

I know pike isn't open yet in my Division :( , but I was wondering around what time of season is best for topwater action with the toothy ones?
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi aciddrop, for big pike the best time seems to be early season while they are still in the shallow water, in general, but the biggest topwater pike I've seen in my boat ,38 and39 inches, came in mid-summer either just before or just after a thunderstorm had moved through

I'd advise during the coldest, windiest, rainiest day during summer. That day when you're thinking about heading back because it's so miserable...That's a topwater pike day! Otherwise, early as possible in the spring, or late in the fall.
