So I've got 12lb test lead core line and I'm going to attach a monofiliment backing to it using a Albright knot, based on the link to the handy animation that I found on this site. Before I begin tying this connection though, I should remove about 3-4 inches of lead from the end. Any suggestions on how to do this? I have tried sliding the dacron back but then it frays. I've tried twisted the line about 3-4in. from the end in a vain hope of sliding the lead out?

I could leave the lead in but the knot would be bigger. Thanks in advance.

If you happen to have the Outdoor Canada issue on trophy trout fishing on Lake Athabaska the author talks about doing this. I just can't remember if he says how he does it. I'll check later and post it if he does and no one else already has.

Hi, we use lead core quite a bit for walleye and you should be able to get lead out by kinking the line.we usually only take out about 1and a half inches.then tie a regular knot loosely in the leadcore.you then feed the mono inside leadcore till it is through the knot and then pull it tight.takes time to get used too but it is a great producer on lake erie.
