Hello all,

Well like many of you I have been waiting a long time for tomorrow to come. I was reading the reg's and have a few questions I am hopeing some of you can help me with. I am new to the area and the regs say there are certain parts of the Ottawa River that are off limits. Is it alright to fish the river between the dam at Fitzroy Harbour and the rapids in nepean?

Thanks for the help, I don't want to end up in the wrong place and get fined!!

You can fish it today, Fiday.....the season is open..just stay on the Ontario side and don't wander over to Quebec shoreline.....

You should really ask the MNR to make sure. Here's what I know, but I could be mistaken, or not know all the info:

The bold part of the following exception to normal rules is west of the dam at Fitzroy, so you're ok for that one. The area described here is a fish sanctuary until next weekend:

Ottawa River, Madawaska River and Mississippi River – including waters of the Madawaska River downstream from the Arnprior Generating Station, Ottawa River from Dochart Creek to the lighthouse (45º27’03”N., 76º21’02”W.) and then east following the inter-provincial boundary to the south end of the CNR bridge at Lavergne Point - West Carlton Twp., and the Mississippi River downstream from the Generating Station at the town of Galetta.

This exception is for an area west of Petawawa, which is west of Ottawa, so you're ok here too. The area described here is a sanctuary until june 15

Ottawa River - from the Lake Temiscaming Dam downstream to a line drawn due east from the southernmost point of land at the mouth of Fournier Creek in Poitras Twp.

There were only 5 boats out this morning in Constance Bay area....caught and released 3 walleye and 11 pike....

NOTE: There were 2 boats that went up Constance Creek from the end of the bay to try and catch some post spawners.....you guys are poaching!!!!! Once you leave the river (Division 12) the season is NOT open until May 12th because you have entered into Division 9.

The posted regs do say "2nd Saturday in May". That would mean you can't fish until midnight does it not?

MNR Regulations state:

"DIVISION 12" Fri. before 2nd Sat. in May to Dec. 31

Division 12 is the Ottawa River in "map B"

OK, I forgot that the Ottawa River has its own division (division 12). I just checked the regs and it says the season for division 12 starts the FRIDAY before the second saturday in may. and to think I could have been out there last night!!

This is exactly the reason i usually have my attorney tag along with me when i go fishin'

I think it's too far over-do that us anglers lynch mob our elected government and get them to SIMPLIFY THE FRIGGIN REGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, if the regs are this confusing for residents, just imagine how confusing they are for non-residents who would also like to enjoy the world class fishing we have in our backyard, not to mention the economical benefits, they as anglers bring to our province, local businesses etc .....sheeeeeesh

Ratsotail is even having difficulty trying to find out when, where and what he can wet a line for

Trying to understand the ontario regs is about as hard as understanding the the U.S. tax instructions :? :? ! I don't see why you just can't assign a specific date to seasons...like they've finally done for the Bass season.

Boy, I can't wait to fish...but I always have this really bad feeling that I've overlooked something in the regs or is in small print somewhere.

Here's to simplifying the regs! I wonder how difficult the new zoning will be able to understand when it becomes gospel.

tight lines,
