transducer positioning

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

transducer positioning

Post by Mick »

Hey Folks

I'm losing contact at roughly about 20 mph. My transducer is slightly below the boat hull. You think this needs to be raised or lowered?

I can raise it about 3/4 of an inch and it will be above the bottom of the hull, still in water at WOT though.

I appreciate any opinions. Thanks

Hey Mick,

The positioning of the transducers in all the boats I've had is just below the bottom of the boat. You also want to make sure it is at least 1 to 1.5 inches away from the main motor if you can. I didn't get a good look at what kind of finder you had, but sometimes this could be the problem as well. In my Legend with Hummingbird 100, I too lose the read on my finder at times when opening up.

Seems others have had the same problem as well.

You may also want to send a PM to Paul Shibata. He may be able to help you as he is quite knowledgable in this area.

You might have to just raise the Ping speed on the unit. that fixed my problem.

Hey Mickmo aka Captain Walleye.....stop driving your boat in circles and perhaps the Fishfinder will find a fish, ha ha......If not then just bring Meatmo with you and you're guaranteed at least 9 Walleye.
