broken rod tip

If you could guide me in the right direction, I would much appreciate it...the tip broke on my graphite rod (medium-heavy, I think, fast action)

The failure occurred midway between the tip top and the last line guide. I can't find the receipt and so I can't return it.

My question is, should I trim the rod to the last line guide so that it acts as the tip top, or should I reattach the tip top where it broke?

line guide as tip top: strong enough?
reattach tip top: screws up action due to short distance to line guide?

thanks
scott

its okay to attach it where it broke and give it a try,i've done this with lighter action rods with success.you can always cut it past the second eye and relpace a tip there if you don't like it or the action seems wrong.

shorter rod is alway good in a YAK... 8)

depending if the little pieace is a lot longer or close to the last eye...just put a new tip and get rid off the last eye..

Ah man the memories! Happened to me twice on the same rod  It was a 6'6 but is now a 6'

What I did was just bring your pole to Lebaron's and they took out some guides that they had and fixed it right away. Took like 5 min. Looks almost new today

Hope you get it fixed!

What kind of rod is it, and where did you buy it? If it has a good warranty or you bought it at a reputable dealer they may be able to help you out even without a receipt.

Don't just use the last eye, that's not good. Like bucketmouth said, if you bought it at a reputable company, then they should be able to help you out even without the receipt, but if not, then just get a rod tip kit and fix it yourself. It's not hard and it shouldn't affect it too much. I've done it many times.

cheers,

Go see Reel2Reel+ they will replace the last eye with a tip and your back in action. They do a nice job.
