kayak report/jock/rideau(monday)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Joco,

Are these boats speeding by you in speed reduced areas?...or just in the main river area?

i do no there some 10km speed zone,,but dont no if its one,,i gues it was..but not sher..

but even it is open zone..................it would be nice to considerate people in small vesel les then 100 frome you....and that section is real narow to.

there something in the reg,,,,careless operation...

Good outing Joco and Yakfisher!!! I don't like the Rideau in the summer just because of the traffic.

Sorry for the late follow-up, I have the other Joco pike pics :D Yep, was a great outing for sure, I really enjoyed it. About the Rideau, I'm not sure about the speed zone either but if one of us had been in the middle when that one boat blew through, we'd be goners, safety flag or no safety flag. Hard to relax on the Rideau for that reason. When we got to the Jock, every time I heard a car on the bridge, I turned around thinking it might be a boat  Of course, no other traffic on the Jock...

And that rain/hail combo was wild, luckily there was some shelter on the shore but we both got drenched anyway  I think the highlights were Joco's triple and quadruple pike hits just before bringing them in - man, those pike really wanted that spinnerbait  Also, the huge school of carp we saw in the Jock - never seen so many fish at one time....

On to the pics! Joco with a pike:

Another Joco pike:

And another one, I think this was the biggest one:

Thanks to Joco for being the official guide for the day as I hadn't been to either of these spots before :) Looking forward to getting out again sometime!
