Hi all, I am new to site and wanted to say hello. I have been fishing Crotch for about 15 years and have a good idea of where to fish when I go up, when it comes to bass. I was woundering if anyone on the site have any pointers for the lake in general. Also I have a hard time getting on the walleys when I go, any help would be greatly helpful.

hey doc i actually just got back from fishing crotch and i actually did alright my self managed to land a few pike and walleyes my sugestion is to troll the shoals with deep diving lures with big split shots about 2 feet up the line to get it deep around 20-30 feet down i got a few walleys around the islands by big black bay just trolling all around them thats how i got my pike to and if u want any more info then just ask ward.

The left side of Col. Island out about 300 yrds has a few humps in the deep water that come up to 18' this is a good area to jig as well as 3 sisters and gull rock. the narrows can be good at times and is worth a try, these are all good walleye spots as well as any humps in deep water when the water temp. is high. I also like to troll these areas but you need to get down at least 20' so use leadcore or weights or a Tail dancer deep with 150' of line out will get you down to 20-25' . I was up in the end of may and did ok trolling but slow jigging. My wife and I will be back the 2nd week of Sept.

Thanks for all the pointers. I am not very knowledgable when it comes to trolling, I have always been big on jigging for eyes. Do many of you jig live bait with a twister on the jig as well? I have been ready some articles about that online and they say that it enshures a "better" bite.

I fished Crotch Lake 2 weekends ago for the first time and ended up having a chat with a realy nice bunch of guys from Rochester New York that put us on a good lead; We went out the first day and got skuned!!! after we talked to those guys we did pretty good for bass and walleyes.

The 2 main things we use where spinner baits, Mepps spinners for bass and silver Rappala's for the rest. The word was use something with lots of flash and trolling seemed to be the best approach for getting a better number of fish (walleyes). We caught all of our bass on Mepps spinners.

If you find weed beds you will get more luck with bass, so having a good fishfinder to identify submerge weed lines and and so on is key, it certainly helped us out.

I have jigged for eye's a few times but have never even had a bite jigging...I must be doing something wrong as I hear all these guys on here catching them while jigging...Anyone with any techniques for this??

Hey Almonte. The secret to jigging is simple. These are the three rules I generall follow for "Eyes"

1-Use the lightest jig you can get away with, while still maintaining contact with bottom
2-I always use a piece of nightcrawler on my jigs
3-If you're not loosing a few jig-heads to snags, then your not fishing where you should be; ON THE BOTTOM.

on crotch lake live bait works best , minnow first then worms for me. the key is to fish structure so a good fish finder is a must,But learn to use it with OUT the fish ID. It works better when you learn to read the fish arc's you will see them over and around the bottm structure. Trolling is really easy . The cheap way is just use a taildancer deep with 150' of line out and you will be down about 25' troll about 1.5 to 2 MPH in deeper water at dusk, watch for the schools of bait fish and just troll around them. As you trool you will see arc's start to rise to the school and then its just a matter of running your lure by them. I like silver blue lures with alot of flash and wiggle.
