wacky bass

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

wacky bass

Post by fishwhenIcan »

Just got home from CP. Thanks for the worms Gord, gold as usual. The boys and I managed 20+ panfish on them.
Just at the end I tried a gulp worm Wacky style and felt the tick-tick of a bass. Wait...wait...set the hook and the fight is on. Got it to shore just as it did one last flip and man, best bass I've never caught again!!
The boys weren't convinced the day was over though. My 5 yr old says confidently "Just catch it again Dad".
Sure thing son, like I'll ever catch a fish like that again.

Couple of more casts to the same spot and it hits again. This time with a good fight we get it to shore and just as we do the line breaks. I pinned the fish down as I grabbed it and it measured 17" and weighed ~3.25lbs(the weight is with a spring scale so not that accurate, but used wiights at home to figure out roughly what it weighed)
Of course didn't have a camera today, or the cell with the camera...ughhhh, so said my good-byes, and let 'er go. I'll get your picture another day. What a huge yap on it though.
My 7 yr old wanted to try to reel in a big fish too so I continued to cast to the same spot and again caught that fish(could tell by previous hook mark). He reeled it in like there was no tomorrow. My 5 yr old wanted to look in its mouth. Yep, he says, same fish. funny.
Wow, what a day.
Cheers,
Lloyd

Excellent.
Finally got up the nerve to take 4 weeks off in a row from work. Say goodbye to July!!
So far took the kids fishing a bunch of times and worked around the house.
The boys are looking forward to the august tourney already.
Cheers,
Lloyd
