Does anyone kow of a place to rent a boat in or around Fitzroy Harbour? I hear there is good fishing there but can't seem to find much about the area.

My only experience is in the area around the park and it is very shallow and very rocky. I would not take my boat into that area. I caught a pike in the 10lb range and there are some very interesting looking weedy areas but a canoe or kayak is probably your best bet.

I was there in my yak as well early in the season (launched where joco described) - I caught a near 4-lb channel cat which was great though unexpected since I was going for pike. On that note, I landed one hammerhandle. Couple of other hits, nothing to write home about. Things might be different this time of year though.

no boat rentals .. but canoes can be rented from the park ...with exit points from either the beach area and the boat ramp. Fish up by the dam ... on the southern side .... pike and walleye at the water inlets - bass by the side rocky structure and of course in the slop towards the village.

Watch the current, when hydro opens it can get bad quick.

Thats why i suggested the Southern side .. not near the dam but infront of the runnoff spots from the levies ..
Had a buddy of mine cross the infront of the dam to fish for walleye ... then they opened it up he had a heck of a time getting back across without being really pushed down the river.
