Arnprior Head Pond - Boat Launch

Is the boat launch for the head pond at Arnprior - just down from the Boeing Plant still there, and if yes, can you launch with a car or van? I've not been there in "Years" and recall it wasn't in great shape then. Was speaking with someone a while ago, and they thought that you really needed a truck to launch a boat there... is this still the case?

Thanks,

B.

Go with what Kert says.

You can launch at "Boeing" but ya might have to launch your car along with your boat.

I've launched there several times over the past few years and it continues to deteriorate. I drive a 4x4 pickup and can get in and out no problem but water levels can be an issue in how far out you have to go to get the boat off the trailer. There are other places to get onto the Mississippi River above the dam that are easier (try off of 508 on the way to Calabogie).

Wallyboss you are indeed in fact correct. Ever since I lost my BackCountry fishing book and moved away from my normal fish haunts on the Mississippi system I've been lost. I'll have to drop some hints to get a GPS system for the boat

lots of parking at the clay banks launch as well.

Instead of turning left at Arnp. Aero, turn left on White Lake Rd. A couple kms after the bridge, look for the signs.

Merci to all who provided directions and advise.

Yes, the launch up from the Arnprior Aerospace is in bad shape for the average guy with either a car/van/half-ton...Yep, looks best to have a 4WD. The Clay Bank launch was in great shape.... Thanks to Braeside/McNab Township!

As to fishing this past Wednesday... don't ask.... a wind swept, bouncy day spent on the head pond and the Madawaska....Fish 1, Fishermen 0....

I think I will head up to Clay Banks tommorrow a.m. I will let you know how we did. Any spots that I should either try or avoid?

Thanks

If you have a large boat, lets say, bigger than a 17 foot Lund Pro Sport you will have a hard time launching into the Head Pond since there are no proper boat launches with docks.(as far as I know)

Each time we launch at Clay banks, we have to walk into the water until our knees are wet and then climb into the front of the boat and then get unstuck with a paddle.

You'd think the community would put in some docks for boaters.

I guess this is a good way to deter boaters from the lake!!!!

This launch is a nuisance!! Unless you have a more lightweight boat!!!!

If they put docks in then every Tom, Dick and Harry will be out with there taking their time and backing things up on a Saturday afternoon. It is a sucky launch but it's not all that busy at key times...
